Roberto Figueroa is a board-certified psychiatrist that specializes in the psychotherapeutic treatment of anxiety and depression in adults. Dr. Figueroa’s experience in multiple psychotherapy approaches enables him to tailor treatment to each patient’s needs and style.
As a psychiatrist, Dr. Figueroa is also able to prescribe medications to his psychotherapy patients when indicated, after ample consideration of the potential benefits, risks and alternatives. Dr. Figueroa has extensive training, specialization and experience in psychopharmacology.
Dr. Figueroa trained in general psychiatry at the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic of the University of Pittsburgh. After completing his residency in 2003, he was awarded a fellowship to specialize in psychopharmacology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York.
Dr. Figueroa joined the faculty at Mount Sinai as an Assistant Professor in 2004 where he supervised residents and taught psychopharmacology. Dr. Figueroa obtained advanced training in psychodynamic psychotherapy at the Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research of Columbia University. Dr. Figueroa used his expertise in Cognitive Behavioral THerapy (CBT) to co-found and design MindQuire– an online application that allows patients to practice CBT exercises.
In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Figueroa has experience in phase I – III clinical trials, health services research, health policy and business consulting. He earned a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration from Carnegie Mellon, specializing in the evaluation of quality of health care. He has published numerous research articles in peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Figueroa also worked as a consultant for McKinsey And Company, serving clients in multiple industries, including pharmaceutical, health insurance, private equity and international health systems.
