Medications can be a highly effective component of the treatment for a variety of psychiatric disorders and mental health symptoms.
Dr. Figueroa has extensive training, specialization and experience in psychopharmacology. After completing his residency in 2003, he was awarded a fellowship to specialize in psychopharmacology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. Since then he has participated in dozens of clinical research trials aimed at evaluating the efficacy and safety of medications being developed to treat anxiety, depression, bipolar and psychotic disorders. He has also led pioneering research to study the long term safety of exposure to antidepressants during pregnancy.
In his private practice, Dr. Figueroa focuses on psychotherapy (talk therapy), but provides medication management services to his psychotherapy patients when indicated, after considering potential benefits, risks and alternatives.
